Today a wine from one of my favorite wineries in Somló.
This wine won a golden medallion in the National white wine excellency of Hungary in 2014.
The wine is made from 56% hárslevelű, 22% Olaszrizling (Welshriesling) and 22% Furmint.
It has a very light color as you can see on the pictures below. I would say light gold.
The wine itself is very elegant and complex, it has what I like in white wines. It fermented for eight months in used Hungarian and Austrian oak barrels.
In the smell you have minerals cause of the volcanic soil. There is also a very light sweet smell of apples and pear. Light hints of the oak somehow together with honey. The taste is very smooth and has the returning taste of the apple, pear and a little more dominant mineral taste. This is probably one of the best dry white wines I drank in my life.
