Hello everyone, today I will write a short article about an exceptionally good rosé wine I had over the weekend. Next Monday is my wedding anniversary and we’ve decided to open a bit more premium wines during the next week.
We decided to start with a rosé of the house favorite Malatinszky. It’s not an every day thing to find a good Merlot rosé in Hungary, I’ve tasted this wine previously on the wine festival in September and I was already impressed by it back then.
The grapes were harvested when they were ripe, the juice was extracted without pressing and it was fermented and aged in new oak barrels. I am really impressed and stunned by the beautiful deep rosé color this wine has.
The nose is intensive and clean, as written on Instagram ‘It was like sticking your nose in a strawberry jam pot‘ and I am not over exaggerating with this. There were some minerals as well.
The taste is medium intensive, the acids and the alcohol are well balanced and there are soft and light tannins. I detected a lot of minerals, a bit of the nature taste you get when you walk through the forest and of course the strawberry jam was very much there.
This wine would be perfect with seafood dishes and some light pork dishes. Of course it can be drank on its own like I did.
